Relishing some old memories

Can't believe it's soon going to be Dec 2015. I started working on this piece of art in Dec 2014... And yet I haven't made anything else after it... Have some unpublished work. That also I could not publish. The only thing that I can do now is relish memories... Looking forward to great days ahead! Wish me good luck! Gonna need all your blessings. Here are some sincere efforts and lots and lots of hard work and determination... ...

Quilled Calligraphy - "PARTH"

Well, it's been a long long long time I wrote anything on my blogs.

And I seem to be spending more time on FB than on Blogs... which is very bad actually.

Anyway... After a long time I had my hands on Quilled Calligraphy. I made a small one in 2010 December when I actually started learning Quilling and the calligraphy said "2011". It was a good attempt however, I had no idea how people do such minute work so beautifully.

I tried searching tutorials about quilled calligraphy. I didn't get any video tutorials. I got one pictorial tutorial and it taught me about the right technique. I can't find that tutorial now though. Well, the lessons learnt then actually became very helpful when I tried this new project.

It took me 38 hours to design, create and get it framed. There were few tiring nights and hectic weekends which resulted in bad health as well. However, what kept me going is the deadline. The final result made me feel that the time spent was worthwhile.

The best thing I like about this creation is that I tried to make the spirals with that small bend at the center that usually happens when we use the quilling pen, and it was successful. That's also another reason why the design looks better.

Here's the final product...

Project 'Mayur' - Quilled Peacock

Finally... I have finished the complex project I was working on. And yes the Colorful Peacock is here... landed on my canvas...

Each of those Peacock feather eyes took me at least 1 hour to prepare... Collecting ideas to finish the feather took a whole lot of time... Creating it took even more number of hours...

Actually it's the feather part that took a whole lot of time to conceptualize and then prepare.

I had the peacock feather eyes already... 15 of them. What I lacked was the idea to put those feather eyes together and still make it look as natural as I can to the real peacock. That was the hardest part. And while collecting ideas and thoughts, by seeing the real peacock pictures and the amazing quillers across world who have already created some amazing peacocks... I came across a beautiful Quilled Peacok. At first I couldn't find out who has prepared that but guessed who it could be. And yes, upon several days of browsing I found the owner of it - it is Yulia Brodskaya's creation - my inspiration for the love of quilling art.

I know there are still a lot of improvements to be done and I am striving to correct all those mistake in my future creations.

So, here I present to you my very own creation - our national bird - my favorite bird - which inspires me in many ways - my Peacock - 'Mayur'

It took more than 35 hours to complete this piece... And thus I would love to hear your thoughts on this piece of my work!
